11th goEast, the Festival of Central and Eastern European Film in Wiesbaden hosts the German premiere of CHILDREN OF THE GREEN DRAGON, the latest feature by Bence Miklauzic.
The competition of goEast, Festival of Central and Eastern European Film - held between 6-12 April in Wiesbaden - brings together an exquisite and highly intriguing selection of auteur productions. From more than 300 submissions, 16 works were selected for the 11th edition: these include productions by young and promising directors such as Marian Crişan and Bujar Alimani alongside big names of Eastern European art house cinema, like Christi Puiu and Alexey Balabanov.
President of the jury is the Serbian director Želimir Žilnik, whose films have delighted the audience at goEast for many years. |

The Polish Film Academy held the ceremony for their Polskich Nagród Filmowych Orły 2011 (Eagle Awards), their 13th annual edition in Warsaw. Jerzy Skolimowski's Essential Killing came out on top, winning Best Film, Director, Music and Editing. Reka Lemhenyi the chief editor of the movie and Maciej Pawliński editor with won prize of the best editing of for Essential Killing. |

Children of the Green Dragon for Sofia Grand Prix and the Essential Killing is in The Big Five
The 15th anniversary edition of the Sofia International Film Festival beginning on the 4th March screens latest feature by Bence Miklauzic and Jerzy Skolimowsky.
Miklauzic's 2nd feature is among the 12 contenders of the International Competition, and Skolimowsky's Essential Killing will be screened in The Big Five section.
The 15th Sofia IFF (4-13 March) showcases 118 feature, 24 documentary and more than 70 short films. These will be screened amongst the traditional festival sections: International Competition for first and second feature films, The Big Five, Cinema Today, Cinema Tomorrow, New Bulgarian Cinema, Balkan Competition, Documentary Competition and others.
For 9th consecutive year the Grand Prix Award will be handed out to the best film in the International Programme (1st or 2nd feature by directors from all around the world). The competing titles include Bence Miklauzic's Children of the Green Dragon. |
Jancsó film at Cairo competition

World famous Miklós Jancsó's latest feature competes at the 34th Cairo IFF. The 34th Cairo International Film Festival (November 30 - December 9) premieres 16 features in its Golden Pyramid competition. This year's jury is presided over by Mexican director Arturo Ripstein.

Essential Killing takes top prize at Mar del Plata

Jerzy Skolimowski's latest feature received the Golden Astor (Astor de Oro) Grand Prize at the 25th Mar del Plata International Film Festival in Argentina, which closed on 21th of November. Vincent Gallo picked up Best Actor for his role as a Taliban fighter in Skolimowksi's political thriller. The ACCA Award (Argentine Film Reviewers Association) for Best Film in the International Competitionalso went to Essential Killing. The Mar del Plata film festival is South America's only A-status festival. |
World premiere of Children of the Green Dragon in Pusan

Bence Miklauzic's second feature, CHILDREN OF THE GREEN DRAGON was premiered in the Flash Forward Competition of 15th Pusan IFF, the leading Asian film event.
Miklauzic's feature was benefitting from the Film Sales Support at the Asian Film Market, which forms part of European Film Promotion's (EFP) world wide promotional activities for European films.

Venice Film Festival success of Essential Killing

Essential killing , a film by Polish director Jerzy Skolimowski, scooped double honours with the Special Jury Prize and the Volpi Cup for Best Actor (Vincent Gallo).
The Polish/Irish/Norwegian/Hungarian co-production starring Vincent Gallo and Emmanuelle Seigner, had its world premiere screening at the 67th Venice International Film Festival.
